August 2013 - World Pipe Band Championships
Dowco Triumph Street travelled to Scotland once again for the World Pipe Band Championships, which were held on Saturday, August 17th and Sunday, August 18th on Glasgow Green.
Following Saturday's qualification heats, which saw heavy rain for most of the day, DTSPB was one of only twelve bands to qualify for the grade 1 final. In Sunday's final, the band performed both an MSR and a Medley, finishing 10th overall and 2nd best in North America. Conditions in the final were also difficult as bands experienced varying weather throughtout the day.
This years competition saw the debut of a new format for the Grade 1 contest, with six bands qualifying from each of two heats on the Saturday to play in the Sunday final. The qualifier consisted of an own-choice Medley and own-choice MSR while the final required bands to play their other Medley and other MSR.
Videos of our performances can be viewed on BBC Scotland's Worlds website.
